This coming season, Inspiration Academy will select an outstanding student who will wear #21 to honor
Aubrien Jimenez, a student-athlete who passed away in June 2022 from her battle with cancer.
The student-athlete will be selected by coaches and teammates, as the person who most exhibits Aubrien's
outstanding characteristics. Aubrien was able to inspire many during her battle with cancer, as she fought
with resiliency to try to get back onto the softball field.
"Aubrien was a light to so many and was a beacon while battling through adversity, said director of operations
Brian Commerford. "Even through her darkest hours, she was able to shine the light of Jesus. Instead of
retiring her number, we felt it was more appropriate to remember her fighting spirit by carrying her on the
field with us forever."
Aubrien was diagnosed with Ethesioneuroblastoma on July 1, 2021. After going into remission in January
2022, Aubrien prepared to get back onto the field with her IA teammates.
After experiencing back pain in March 2022, an MRI showed that the cancer returned. Even during this tragic
time, Aubrien's story inspired thousands to grow their faith in Jesus because of her joyful response to her
diagnosis.
"She wanted people to know Jesus in the midst of all that she was going through," said her dad & Inspiration
baseball director
Mario Jimenez. "She laid down her life to help countless people find a new perspective
about God's love."
Inspiration Academy opens their softball season on February 13 in the Parrish Preseason Classic.
