"Be a star in your role" was the motto the Varsity White team lived by this year. No matter the situation, every single player on this team stepped up and put their best foot forward when their number was called on to get a job done. Each player made the most out of every opportunity they had to help the team win. From top to bottom, this year was a year of growth and development in all aspects of their game.Â
This year's team took the field each day with enjoyment and confidence. They worked hard day in and day out to hone their skills on and off the field. Their hunger to learn was the driving force for their growth and success. It led to them going out and beating some of the hardest competition on their schedule.Â
Younger guys stepped up as their names were called and took advantage of the opportunities they were given. Several players started their season on the middle school team then became mainstays in the lineup on Varsity White. These players played significant roles in the team's success as the season progressed. Watching them make the most of their opportunities and successfully hold their own against high school competition was a true testament to their dedication this year.Â
Several players were recognized for their commitment and development during their time here. The awards were - the Lion's Legacy Award, the Most Valuable Player, and the Most Improved Player.Â
The Lion's Legacy Award was presented to the athlete who embodies what it means to be a Lion. He embraces our core values in his daily life and naturally encourages others to follow his steps. This athlete goes above and beyond in everything he does without seeking any recognition. This year's Lion's Legacy recipient is Oakley Shirk. His impact expands far beyond his actions on the field. Oakley's drive to succeed leaks into those around him and consistently pushes the team's growth. He is a natural leader who embodies what it means to be a Lion.Â
The Most Valuable Player went to the player who was invaluable to the success and growth of the team. This player provided key contributions on all sides of the ball. This year's Most Valuable Player was awarded to Sean Dromgool. Sean was a vital part of the team on both sides of the ball. He was a consistent threat at the top of the lineup, hitting .351 with 20 hits on the year. Despite his quiet demeanor the team viewed him as a leader on and off the field.Â
The
Most Improved Player showed the most improvement throughout the year in all aspects of his game. This player took advantage of his opportunities and became a key player for the Lions. This year's Most Improved Player was
Kolten Harris. Kolten's focus and work ethic from the first day of practice was evident as he stepped on the field this spring. His desire to learn and compete was the driving force behind his growth. Kolten became a mainstay in the pitching rotation and consistently gave his team the opportunity to compete.
